I think the Tantabus actually came from Queen Chrysalis' throne--through Chrysalis--and ultimately seeped into Luna when Chrysalis was imprisoned beneath Canterlot Castle. When Chrysalis wants to set up a new hive, she goes to the tree of harmony and tries to control it. That gives us a hint that the throne itself pre-existed Chrysalis as a powerful artifact. Stygian and King Sombre could have each separately encountered the artifact in ancient times. Nightmare Moon's escape from the moon we think corresponded to the alignment of stars, but it could have instead corresponded to something happening over at the changeling hive. Perhaps like the zap apples, thorax and his brood could only hatch when certain magical conditions are met. The alignment of stars hatched the brood and increased Chrysalis' throne's power enough to where the throne released Nightmare Moon also. Instead of all the mlp events being tied to Nightmare Moon's escape, they could instead have started when Chrysalis escaped.

Whats absolutely fucked is that Luna made an entity that can defeat the elements of harmony just in the dream world, and I don't really remember exactly what Luna said in the episode but she essentially made it seem like once the tantabus leaves the dream world and enters the real world its basically too strong to be stopped. Damn wtf Luna almost ended the world😂 you know what, this settles the debate of who's the stronger one between the 2 sisters. It's clearly Luna because idk how she did or what spelled she used or if sheade the spell herself but she made an entity that was stronger than the elements of harmony off screen. Throughout all the seasons Celestia has just been depending on the elements to fight her battles

what if the black spot allows Luna to dreamwalk? The crescent allows her to raise the moon, and the spot represents/allows her to dreamwalk. Maybe that’s why she was so jealous, before she became Nightmare Moon she just raised the moon and thats it!

Okay so I watched the video but it showed a princess Luna as a billion discovering dark magic and then you got the black spots and then that's when her jealousy boiled up and then the black splotch is totally represents dark magic and that dark magic had controlled her to become nightmare Moon

My theory is that Luna got the black splotch because of destiny, as you know destiny is always planned no matter what, you cannot change destiny. Luna got the splotch because it was planned for her to become nightmare moon and because that she will always be nightmare moon- well atleast kind of. Luna’s splotch was made to represent her destiny to becoming Nightmare Moon, Which is also why when Luna gave Twilight her magic only the moon disappeared from her since the splotch represents destiny and not Luna’s magic. However the reason Celestia did get the splotch was because they swapped places completely kind of like the same person but different form and because of that the splotch and cutie mark both went to Celestia representing Luna’s magic AND destiny.

you know, the Tantabus kinda reminds me of the darknesses in kingdom hearts work. In the master of masters case, when his keyblade war happened, they got rid of their forms to win over against light. But without a form, they're relatively weak, so they attempt to hide in the hearts of other people. Just like what Vanitas did with Ventus before xehanort extracted him.

Note that Discord, the Changelings and Starlight were not nessarily affected by the Tantabus. And while the trio used magic to make them stronger they acted on their own accord specially Cosy Glow.
